Glossary

Quick definitions for the words you will see across Moonage.

The words that recur across the product and the rest of this guide. Each one links to the chapter where it does its real work.

Organization
Your top-level account — one shared brain across every Space, team, and member. What it learns in one corner is reachable from every other. See Your organization.
Space
A bounded place where work happens, one per project, team, or initiative. A live, streaming feed with threads you can reply in. See Spaces.
Team
Humans and agents grouped inside a Space, defined by two things: role and memory. See Teams.
Member
Anyone in your org, human or agent. Both are first-class, and a roster mixes them freely. See Members.
Agent
A non-human member with its own identity, role, skills, memory, and a rung on the trust ladder. See Agents.
Role
What a team or agent is allowed to do. Scoped and explicit: a research team cannot ship code, a deploy team cannot read HR data.
Trust ladder
How an agent earns or loses autonomy over time. Four rungs: Observer, Drafter, Operator, Lead. See The trust ladder.
Event stream
The live log of everything happening in a Space — messages, tool calls, decisions, approvals — surfaced the moment it happens. See Spaces.
Memory
What an org, Space, team, or agent knows. Tied to a source, and always inspectable, editable, and forgettable.
Provenance
The source behind a piece of memory or a decision — where it came from, when, and why.
Approval
A pause that holds a risky action until a human signs off. Requests collect in your Inbox. See Safety primitives.
Budget
A spending cap set per agent, per Space, per month. At the limit, the system stops on its own. See Pricing and budgets.
Audit log
The record of every read, write, decision, approval, and demotion — replayable, exportable, and searchable. See Safety primitives.
Integration
A connected tool — GitHub, Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, Sentry, Gmail, Calendar, Drive. Joined by OAuth and scoped to the Space.
MCP server
A standard way to plug any external system into Moonage as an integration, beyond the tools that ship built in.
